Verification Status and Display of Cell Phones in VAN
Updated 10-23-2023
It is worth understanding the verification status and display of cell phones, which will make it easier for you to identify supporters who have phones that are (or are not) cell phones.
The "Is a Cell?" field is available for each phone number on a contact record, on list pages (such as My List), and in the Phones section in Create A List.
"Is a Cell?" will have four possible values:
Verified Cell
Likely Cell
Unknown Cell
Not a Cell
The field is populated in one of two ways: (a) a user specifies a value - or (b) the user does not specify a value, in which case the phone number is run against a cell matching data source, which returns one of the four values.
When no value is specified by the user, it's determined using the following logic:
Note that this score factors in whether the user has indicated a Phone Type of "Cell."
This is different from the “Is a Cell” value, which is more like a score that ranks the likelihood of a cell adhering to a specific type (Cell, Home, Etc.)
In many cases, cell phone numbers are bulk applied; when doing so, it will be possible to bulk apply values for "Is a Cell?"
If the "Is a Cell?" value is later changed on a contact record (using Quick Lookup, for example), it will override the value that was bulk applied.
